| Adolf Berger |
| Well Czechoslovak actually but still an interesting story. I've just listened to a documentary on BBC Radio 4 called the Counterfeiter's Tale which told the story of the Nazi plan during WWII to bring the British economy to its knees by flooding the country with fake bank notes. The only living eye witness is Adolf Berger a Slovak who was press ganged into the operation because of his printing skills. He survived four different labour/concentration camps but lost his wife and parents. You can listen to this fascinating story and practice your Czech(ish) listening skills by going to www.bbc.co.uk and selecting the Listen Again feature. PS I think the BBC series years ago "Private Schultz" was based on this same general idea. |
