nealko pivo [non alchoholic beer]
never been a fan of non alchoholic beer.in uk we have a truly terrible one called kaliber.its that yeasty flavour i dont like.here in czech we are blessed with such fine beers which i drink regularly but as the wife is pregnant and she usually drives she has been checking out the non alchoholic options and ive been assisting in this research and been pleasantly surprised .so our vote for draught [tap] beer goes to Starobrno, very pleasant.from a bottle we like Borec, which you get from Albert for 6KC a large bottle [not saying it tastes as good as real beer but sometimes needs must]also a new discovery is Bernard s cistou hlavou, which is non alchoholic beer with plum juice, comes in a bottle with a picture of an old man with half a plum on his head.
the wife and tried the birell and we dont rate it[its that yeasty flavour again ]and though you are correct about the low alchohol and breath test potential, you would need to drink some quantity as you naturally lose [a surprising amount of alchohol from youre body over a period of time [helps if you eat as well]. i have actually been breath tested in the uk twice .both times i had had a couple of strong beers but a few hours later the breathalyser showed nothing ,so pretty safe to have a couple of nealkos i think.i reckon [and i,m no scientist that you would lose that 0.5 of alchohol in less than 30 minuites].
sorry for posting in wrong section feel free to move it..
The "old man" with half a plum on his head is the owner of the Bernard brewery. Originally on the "nealko" version he had a bald head ( I think s cistou hlavu was a play on words "clear head" clean shaven and clear head being similar in Czech.
The Starobrno one is called "Frii" and I agree is not bad.
There's also the daddy of them all "Birell" which I think is produced by Radegast.
What should be remembered I think is that these "nealko beers" are not truly no-alcohol beers more like very-low alcohol. The Starobrno one for example has 0,5% alcohol as opposed to 2.something% for desitku and around 4.00% for dvanactku. So in theory if you were mad enough to drink the stuff in quantity you could still fail a breath test.
I lived in Saudi for a while and there they have ZERO alcohol versions of many of the world's leading brews. It's amazing how you can get used to them after a while
For true no-alcohol here try "Bavaria" . I've only seen it in cans here. You can pick it up by the pallet load at the discount shop on Lidicka from time to time. Can't be very popular
