went yesterday, nice place, lovely lake 7km long surrounded by trees, several restaurants and places for a swim. we took a boat trip which stops at various places.
there is even a nudist beach if that is your thing, probably 50 nudists. good day but very hot.

nuda beach

Did you happen to see my friend Leo there? He likes to eat water melon and play beach badminton naked. I was there once and there were too many swinging "d's" and while I was sunning myself, I noticed a fellow with a leather cock ring checking me out.

However, close by is a decent pub called Princezna. Cold, cheap beer and hearty food. Last time we were there they had Rocky Mountain oysters for something like 75Kc.

New Memory

Yes indeed, if this goes on admin will have to invest in some new memory or whatever it's called. Thanks for all your contributions let's hope as they used to say in the newspapers this correspondence is now closed.

Everyone's got the right to their say and all contributions are more than welcome but let's try and keep them positive and informative not like some other Czech expat websites I could mention. Wink

oh and moderators, if you get too many members who,s purpose in life is to question the relevance and quality of other members posts you may soon find that even less people post than do already.

my post may have been pointless to you and no doubt some others especially as you seem to have been to the lake but for anyone who hasn,t you will have to admit that it may have offered some value to someone.
and having read a few of your posts, Value isn,t something thats leaping from the pages.
a brief overview of a place that somebody has never been to or even heard of is better than nothing and of course i don,t have to satisfy your criteria for posting.

i heard that the water is tested every few weeks and occassionally it is deemed not fit to swim in but the folks in law have been swimming in it for donkeys years and they are alive to tell the tale.
i actually saw a snake maybe 3 feet long swimming in the lake and several one eyed trouser snakes on the nudist beach.

The water testing involves throwing some Gypsies in the water and, if their skin doesn't fall off, it's safe for swimming. Would only be conjecture as to what happens to the Gypsies after that Wink

Ooops, sorry MOD Laughing out loud

Guess I was a little harsh, but just don't see the point in someone posting what they did yesterday. That's what Facebook and Twitter is for.

Replacing my previous reply as it was a little harsh.
If you want to provide info to newcomers who don't know about the lake and what you can do there, then provide the info.
That's all I'm saying Smile

er i did provide the info, i told about the brno damm, how big it is, that food is available, that you can swim, naked if you like, that you can take a boat trip.
that is plenty of info, need anymore just ask. thought it might interest someone on these hot summer days.
and jam, no one told me that you were the new moderator, i can post anything on here that conforms to the terms and conditions and my post had local interest so i don,t know why you felt the need to say anything.

RE: brno dam

Where did you eat? Any recommendations? A few places to eat at the beginning of the lake. Other than that, a fish place and a BBQ joint on the west side.Boat stops at several places? Err, like Veveri castle?
As for the swimming, well, I wouldn't recommend anyone swim in there without an NBC suit on - never mind naked!

Yes, you can post anything you like it's true..
I was in Vienna a couple of weekends past. A few restaurants, couple of pubs. Public transport goes there. Lots of things to do and see Tongue

Just saying that if you're posting for local interest - and you know the details, why not post them, instead of just giving everyone a rundown of your day?

so, jam. are you saying that a brief overview of any place of local interest has no relevance on this forum and should not be posted at all?
i say any post with some useful content that may then instigate some questions from anyone who is interested is better than nothing and gives this slow site some added value.
if this site had a rule that said > be thorough or don,t bother< i would suggest it would get virtually zero postings and serve no purpose.

So, you were posting to start a discussion then? Fair enough.
However, I don't think I'm the only one who feels that if you have detailed information about a place, then why not provide the details?
Maybe this is why the site is sometimes slow - due to 'discussions' and no details?

oh and i don,t have detailed information about the place, i was their just the once .
