Hi All,
I'm looking for a room or an apartment near to IBM, I don't know the area as I've only passed through Brno a few times (Is there life in Kralove Pole?).
I'm not in country right now but will get there in a few weeks time. About me? Male, Irish, Mid 30's, Considerate, not a total pisshead.
Any help/tips/suggestions appreciated.

flat in brno

Single room with balcony in a pleasant and peaceful neighborhood. 5500 Kc . There are three rooms in the apartment and this one about 21qm is free for 1 person or a couple. There is a kitchen and a bath/laundry room with a washing machine. Tram #1 from Reckovice or bus 41, 42, 70, 71, 72, 90, and 91 gets you to Semilasso no problem. From there it's close by bus or tram to Technika Park or Masaryk University. If you are interested or want to ask question about the flat just email me and sms works as well.. +49(0)15204997987 - v_italix@hotmail.com

Hot leads

Hi,

A few places you could start looking are the Classified section of this site, there are mainly flats there but some of them would be fine for one person.
Also there's www.en-able.cz which has flats and rooms I think. If you trawl through the postings in this section you will find several other links or use the search engine.

Like a few others have said recently get everything in writing, in English and don't sign anything until you're happy with it. Also don't be afraid to haggle not so much over the rent but for sure over the agents' fees.

Good luck!

Kralovo pole

Hi everybody,

I've been living in Kralovo pole for a few months now, and I can say - It is absolutely OK - especially If you work in IBM, or in the Business Park nearby. It's within walking distance, which personally - i will alowas prefer.
It's safe at night, there is regular transport and not so far away from the city centre. It depends on which stop you live, but I am near the last one, I think, and commuting has never been a problem. About walking to the centre - It's a bit far away- 50 minutes - at least. THere are some nice houses and blocks here.
A lot of restaurants, I have a park nearby.....
For me, It's a very nice neighbourhood.

neighborhoods

hi, I was looking at rental sites in hope to get an idea of which neighborhoods are fine place to live in (safe at night, not too far from shops) and of what are the rental prices. so far, all I could find is that husovice seems a bit more expensive, and zabrdovice seems less safe.

am I right at all? any opinions about kralovo pole, medlanky, ponava, vevery, pisarky? those would be fine for me with respect to public transport, given that i'll work in kralovo pole.

(oops, i posted here instead of creating a new topic. well)

Apartments or room

Try the website spolubydlící.cz, they have offers of flats to rent or looking for flatmates. I used to live in Kralove Pole and there are quite a few pubs and restaurants that are decent. Many dodgy non-stops there with poker machines as well as several "night clubs" which are actually brothels. Also, you'd be real close to the football stadium and not too far from the center. Not a bad place to live at all.

It depends on what tram stop you would be at in Kralove Pole, but I used to live close to Jungmanova stop before Husitska and it took me over 30 minutes to walk from the center to there, while drunk, probably about 20 minutes at a brisk pace.
