Lunch Vouchers

I am investigating lunch vouchers for my employer. They seem ubiquitous here but are a foreign concept to me. Yes, these "Stravenky" or luncheon vouchers are probably the most widespread perk among Czech workers. They are offered by several companies( Sodexo,Gastro and others)on restaurant doors there is usually a sticker indicating which ones they accept,and various denominations depending how generous the employer wants to be; 80Kc seems to be the standard at the moment but some companies still offer 60Kc and higher and lower amounts also exist.
The main advantage to the employer is that they can offer something extra, don't have to build a canteen and a certain proportion of the total cost can be set off as tax deductible. The advantage for the employee is that they are getting a bonus and can use the LVs not only in restaurants but also in some shops for grocery shopping although some supermarkets seem to have tightened up on this. You shouldn't be able to buy fags and booze with them for example.
The situation re who pays what and the percentages for tax etc. change evey year. I'm looking into the current position and will post more when I have up to date info.

As promised here is the latest info on LVs or "stravenky". The deal is usually that the employer and employee split the cost with a 55% payment by the employer and 45% by the employee. The 55% paid by the employer can be set against tax up to a maximum of 70Kc on any one voucher. The employee's share of the cost is deducted from net salary. Super generous employers can bear the whole cost of the voucher but the same 55% and 70Kc limits apply.
The "stravenky" are issued in advance for the coming month, strictly one per working day. So, if there are twenty working days, 20 are issued. If the employee misses any days through illness, vacation etc they will have the appropriate number deducted from the following month's issue.
