From 9th to 29th July, thirteen top Brno restaurants will be offering the opportunity to choose from special menus created by the city’s leading chefs and based on local ingredients from the very best producers in southern Moravia.
The „Local Food Festival“ („Jídlo z blízka“ in Czech) in July is one of the top gastronomical events in Southern Moravia. It is based on the Slow Food philosophy and offers guests a unique experience - each three course menu will be prepared from the best and absolutely fresh ingredients from local farmers, whose stories will be part of specially created menu cards.
Gourmet specialities from a wide range of seasonal foods supplied by regional farmers and local producers, will be prepared according to original recipes by chefs from selected Brno restaurants. You can choose from succulent meat from Wallachia, fresh fish from the Moravian karst region or fresh salad with sun-blessed tomatoes from around Znojmo.
At special degustation events you will meet farmers, winemakers and small-scale producers of a whole range of delicacies, all carrying out their work with care and devotion. You will get to know chefs committed to reviving a forgotten and debased culinary tradition.
The summer food festival also offers guests the chance to learn the secrets of traditional culinary methods and master the classic recipes of the region and, at leisurely wine-tasting sessions, to discover the charms of Moravian wines.
Sample the taste of southern Moravia at one of Brno’s major gastronomic events of the year, where local food is brought even nearer to you. You can reserve a place in the restaurant of your choice at www.jidlozblizka.cz.
