This sounds like something from a James Bond film but in the 1970s these guys planned to build an underground tunnel between Czechoslovakia and the Adriatic coast! Not such a bad idea you might think given the annual gridlock/carnage on the roads leading towards Croatia. The bizarre bit is that they wanted to use the the material excavated from the tunnel to build an offshore island which would have become a Czechoslovak offshore paradise.
